Kat & Alex
Kat and I met playing roller derby in 2013. I was the captain of the team but got injured in training, and Kat was kind enough to offer to come and take my spot at an upcoming game. We lost, but in the following months we got to know each other, and I knew she was the most interesting person I had ever met.
With our hectic work and skating schedules, it was often difficult to find time to go out and spend time with each other as a couple. We discovered Didsbury House Hotel online, and decided to make time for ourselves with dinner out in Didsbury and a night away from life pressures at Didsbury House. The hotel was immaculate, and the decor was in a classic vintage style with a modern twist, which was exactly our taste.
In February I recreated one of our "date nights" with dinner and a luxury stay at Didsbury House... and it was there I asked her to marry me. After she said yes, Kat confessed she had also booked us a room at Didsbury House later that month on February 29th, where she was going to pop the question! It was lovely to know we were both on the same page.
There was never a doubt that Didsbury House Hotel would be the venue for our wedding. The staff were always so warm and welcoming, and the layout of the villa was perfect for our wedding day.
The wedding day itself was perfect. I know most couples say that, but it truly was! Being able to stay overnight at the venue the night before was brilliant, it took lots of stress out of the day, and our guests could relax in the lounge and bar before the wedding.
The ceremony itself was beautiful. The staff were so helpful and welcoming, and took care of us and our guests so well. They even made sure Kat and I had a few minutes to ourselves afterwards to have a drink together and breathe!
We couldn't have asked for more from a venue, it was the happiest day of our lives. It was life changing, but it was also so much fun. I only wish we could do it over again!
