G Wedding Directory would like to thank Tracey & Janine for allowing us to publish their story.

Many thanks,

Andrew & John.

The mission to find a suit with the WOW factor that matched Tracey’s quirky style began in all the usual places with visits to high-end London department stores and big brands but to no avail. It was Spring but Tracey needed a suit for a Winter Wedding.

Tracey and Janine took a weekend break to Brighton on the hunt for their wedding rings and also the perfect wedding suit. Step in Gresham Blake!

“ I was instantly drawn to Gresham Blake. Like I say when you know something is right or suitable, you just know. I read the description of what they had on offer and was (for the first time) very excited at the amount of cloths and personal service. At last there seemed like light at the end of the tunnel as my suit was the only thing that we hadn’t yet organised and I kept getting asked – HAVE YOU GOT YOUR SUIT YET?”   Tracey Taylor

Tracey’s wedding suit consultation was with Gresham Blake’s Area Manager and Ladieswear SpecialistNathalie May.

“From the moment I entered the shop and was greeted by the friendly staff, I think I instantly knew that this place could be the one for me….I was taken upstairs by Nathalie and we instantly hit it off, she was friendly and patient which was a blessing as I had got myself in quite a confused state of what I actually wanted, but Nathalie could see through this and directed questions to me to gauge what she thought I wanted, she instantly saw my quirky side and picked up on exactly what I was after, showing me a beautiful selection of cloths. BINGO – we were getting somewhere matching cloths to the theme of Janine and I’s wedding.”   Tracey Taylor

After a 2-hour consultation Nathalie and Tracey had created a truly bespoke suit; A 3 piece suit made from a 12oz worsted wool.

Both the suit jacket and trouser were made with a Prince of Wales check with a subtle red stripe. The waistcoat was in plain red twill with added velvet detailing to the top collar, buttons and pocket jets as well as red buttonholing.

Tracey’s wedding suit was lined with a luxurious black and red shot paisley. An added touch was the matching pussycat bow tied at the neck.

“Even though I chose a traditional/classic cloth this was given the added statements (quirkiness) by Nathalie creating something special by adding different coloured stitching on the button holes, she also suggested a different coloured lapel which looks amazing (thanks Nathalie). We also swapped the button to burgundy to bring out and compliment the burgundy lines in the cloth – Nathalie certainly has an eye for these details and can see ahead of how something would look.”       Tracey Taylor.

Gresham Blake suits take in the region of 8 weeks to create – from consultation to fitting. It is at these fittings that you get to see your suit and more importantly wear it for the first time. If any tweaks are needed we will make alterations until the fit is truly perfect.

Tracey and Janine have been together for 17 years. When Same Sex Marriages became legal in 2014 they decided to take the leap and tie the knot.

The wedding was a small and intimate Christmas affair with 30 guests held at Howfield Manor in Chartham, just on the outskirts of picturesque Canterbury. A last minute booking meant that Tracey and Janine only had 8 months to plan their big day.

Being an intimate affair Tracey and Janine thought 8 months would be plenty of time, everything went smoothly, but Tracey’s struggle to find the perfect wedding suit soon reared its ugly little head.

“Why would we need more time than 8 months? What we didn’t appreciate was how hard it was going to be to find the perfect suit for myself.Even though same sex marriage became legal in March 2014 I find that all wedding dress shops are geared towards Bride and Groom, there are not actually any suit shops specifically for ladies or wedding suits for ladies. At least with a traditional Bride you can go to a bridal shop, have a vast selection of gowns to choose from and be treated like a Bride to be..…With a Bride wanting to wear a suit I can see a massive hole in the market.”  Tracey Taylor

“WOW – My suit exceeded my expectations and the vision I had in my head, It was an amazing fit and hardly needed any alterations – It looked absolutely stunning and my wife to be shed a tear. Even to see Nathalie smile with pride made me realise how much passion she has to ensure every customer leaves the shop feeling 100% satisfied. She knew that for our wedding I wanted something different and to look a million dollars and just from the smiles she knew that she had achieved that.”   Tracey Taylor

After only 8 months of planning Tracey and Janine’s wedding went off without a hitch, both of the Brides receiving comments on how wonderful they looked and what an amazing day everyone had.
